We're very pleased to welcome Dr Nick Cammack, an expert on neglected tropical diseases, to Wellcome as head of our snakebite priority area. Talking about his new role Nick said: “It is a real privilege to join Wellcome to lead the Snakebite priority area and bring much-needed attention to this most devastating and under-served neglected medical need. I’m excited about the opportunity to transform snakebite treatments, making them safer, cheaper, more effective and more accessible to the people who need them the most. “Arguably the world’s biggest hidden health crisis, this is a huge challenge but one that is solvable. Working together with researchers, industry, governments and funders we can put snakebite on the global health agenda and make sure treatment is integrated into health systems.” Previously Nick was Head of Exploratory Discovery at GSK where he used creative partnership-based approaches in the search for new medicines. Before this he was Head of GSK’s Medicines Development Campus for Diseases of the Developing World, where he was responsible for the discovery and development of medicines for neglected diseases including malaria, tuberculosis, Chagas disease and leishmaniasis. https://lnkd.in/ghkCBJa
